Shake Up!
A 200 yard 'river' of ink covered latex rubber falls from a 40ft.long photo-etched aluminum panel suspended perpendicular to the wall. Light reflected off the panel illuminates the wall above with a herd of phantom caribou. The latex cuts a wide arc around a 400lb construction of micro-crystalline wax, scrap paper and cardboard, which has been cast into a 24"x24"x30" house. Above this structure, an overhead video projection illuminates the house and floor. The image and sound is that of the rustling leaves of a forest, foreshadowing an impending storm. The video image pulsates from positive, to negative and back, from the center of the image outward, bathing the house in bluish-gray light. This installation which commands a space roughly 50 ft. by 40 ft. hints at the encroachment upon, and destruction of, our natural environment on a global scale.
