| Andro-Media.3 | In Light of Sound: is a computer assisted laser/video work created in collaboration with composer David Hykes, of The Harmonic Choir. It is a kinetic system performing a cycle of visual phenomena for the viewer. The installation gives graphic representation to sound, employing computer generated video elements and a laser scanner system. | ![]() ![]() |

The work was produced at The Experimental Television Center in Owego, New York with the use of a Jones frame buffer employing digital and analog processing. A high quality sound system is used to reproduce the sounds created by Mr. Hykes for the installation. This sound is used to drive the laser beam which traces an image on the front surface of the video monitor. The laser scan is then recorded along with video feedback and digital processing and then displayed as an image in 'real time' with the music. As a result the image displays both the frequency and amplitude characteristics of the sound. | ||
| The video images which appear on the monitor are subject to phase changes and image overlay. These along with superimpositions of image artifacts recalled from the frame buffer, create a visual tension with the laser system. The images become abstract and strikingly calligraphic. | |||
